The authors use Dean’s area fluorosis index to attempt to evaluate areas of endemic fluorosis and non-poisoned areas in India. In the United States, people living in temperate regions, the lowest value of the permanent teeth stains was significantly lower than 1.0ppm. Because of the amount of water consumed and hence the amount of fluorine taken up, it plays a role.
