由于十九世纪末二十世纪初站在艺术浪潮最顶端的印象派及后印象主义的突出成就,使十九世纪末在艺术领域活动为期十年的纳比派不为人们重视,很多美术评论家的著作里纳比派只是被笼统的介绍,在西方美术史中被称为“亲情主义”的画家爱德华·维亚尔更是一度被忽视。在2004年巴黎大厦宫国家画廊为维亚尔举办了作品回顾展,人们重新认识了维亚尔认为他的作品可以与立体主义抽象绘画进行比较,本文以维亚尔表现日常生活的绘画题材为切入点对他的艺术特色进行分析。
