There has always been a debate over the age of the Seogwipo group in Jeju Island, South Korea. The discovery of the planktonic foraminifera Globigerina calida calida, Beella digitata, Globigerina bermudezi and Globoquadrina conglomerata in this section of the stratigraphy indicates that it should be the mid-Pleistocene (Late N 2 2 band, Globigerina calida calida subtropical zone, by no later than 400,000 years Before) deposition. The quantitative and statistical analysis of benthic and planktonic foraminifera revealed the sedimentary environment of the Lower Seogipu Formation: the lower sedimentary environment is the warm water from the offshore shelf, and the warm water from the upwelling into the nearshore inland shelf. The replacement of the foraminiferal assemblages reflects the deposition of the Lower Seogipo Formation as a regression of three sub-sea levels and two sub-sea levels.
