The specific reaction of monoclonal antibodies with tumor cells has provided a new method for the study of tumor antigens and offers the possibility of objectively identifying tumor cells in the diagnosis. The CaI monoclonal antibody (CaIMA) is a murine IgM type antibody produced by injection of human larynx cancer cell-derived glycoproteins. This antibody reacts with tumor CaI antigenic determinants, but not with nontumor cells. CaI antigens can immunoprecipitate with CaIMA, and can be used to detect a variety of human tumors using immunoperoxidase technology, and have been successfully used in the identification of benign and malignant cells in effusions. This article suggests that CaIMA can be applied to plot
