Ultra-endurance exercise can cause a transient reduction in left ventricular (LV) function and elevated cardiac biomarker.Cardiac oxidative stress after prolong exercise is believed to be one of the potential mechanisms 1, 2.Our previous study reported that hemoglobin-based oxygen carrier (HBOC) protected heart from ischemia/reperfusion injury through attenuation of myocardium mitochondrial oxidative stress 3.Therefore, this study was designed to investigate the effect of HBOC on prolonged-exercise induced myocardium dysfunction.
