In this paper, the carbon nanotubes are prepared by chemical vapor deposition method using alcohol as the carbon source, which grow on the fish scale based hierarchical lamellar porous carbon.Contrast with precious reports to prepare carbon nanotubes basing on quartz with excellent chemical stability thus to protect catalyst from being polluted, the evident improvement and innovation in the paper is to build the carbon nanotubes/fish scale based hierarchical lamellar porous carbon composites in situ with a porous structure and a large specific surface area, which may get greatly applied in electrochemical energy storage, catalyst carriers and multi-functional composite material. The factors such as growth temperature, catalyst reduction temperature, the rate of catalyst to base material, feeding speed of carbon source and growth span are studied to blaze a new and rational trail for preparing the carbon nanotubes/fish scale based hierarchical lamellar porous carbon composites. It was found that the best results were achieved with the carbon nanotubes growth temperature of 760℃,catalyst reduction temperature of 400℃,ferrocene of 0.02g/mL as the catalyst, feeding speed of carbon source of 150μL/min,carbon nanotubes growth span of 40 minutes. The structures and properties of composites are characterized by the scanning electron microscope testing,Raman spectrum testing and conductivity testing.
