Insect midgut microbiota is biologically important with functions of food digestion, detoxification,host development and immune response.In the present study, metagenomic sequencing technology was used to taxonomically and functionally examine and characterize the midgut microbiota of the diamondback moth (DBM), Plutella xylostella, a worldwide destructive pest attacking cruciferous crops.
