Connection is one of the most challenging things to teach yet one of the most important.This connection is that of the horses hind-end energy,how that energy is received (contact),how the rider reacts to the energy (seat aids),and how the rider molds that energy into developing a more athletic,agile horse.The concept of connection affects all the areas of the pyramid of training:rhythm,looseness,contact,impulsion,straightness and collection.Connection will have the most effect on a students riding and a horses longevity and development.It is vital for serious riders to know something of the muscle structure of the horse to evaluate the horses development of self-carriage,the goal of connection.These areas will be discussed.
