Strain R3-44T isolated from Arctic tundra soil at Ny-Alesund area (N79 °) with the highest 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity 95％ with Chitinimonas koreensisthe.On the basis of phenotypic, chemotaxonomic and phylogenetic data, strain R3-44T is considered to represent a novel species of the genus Chitinimonas, for which the name Chitinimonas arctica sp.nov.is proposed.C.arctica can grow under aerobic and anaerobic conditions.
