Nanocomposites represent an important class of nanomaterials and research in which outstanding developments have been achieved in the past decade.Significant efforts have been focused on the ability to obtain control of the nanoscale structures by new synthesis methods in order to get ideally functions(e.g.,catalytic,magnetic,electronic and/or optical properties)as well as biocompatible surface functionalities of low toxicity and high stability that can find a range of versatile applications. On the other hand, mesoporous silicas have attracted a great deal of attention in recent years due to their inherent properties(high surface areas, narrow pore size distribution and tuneable pores diameters). These materials can be functionalized using different methodologies(including in-situ and post-synthetic strategies).
