  Experimental studies reveal that the pathogenesis of neurogenic inflammation involves an activation of spinal cord GABAergicinterneuronal circuits where action potentials are generated and then propagated antidromically along primary afferents to drive the release of pro-inflammatory agents in peripheral tissues.This retrograde signaling is relayed by primary afferent neurons in dorsal root ganglia (DRG).We propose that the initiation and propagation of retrograde signaling cause plasticity of DRG neurons.This neuronal plasticity requires a modulation by satellite glial cells (SGCs).
