In order to apply the sonochemistry into wastewater treatment, the enhancement of sonochemical reaction is necessary. To understand the mechanism of sonochemical reaction in the large sonochemical reactor, the ultrasonic pressure amplitude and the liquid flow velocity distributions have been measured experimentally and the theoretical simulation has been carried out.The distribution of acoustic pressure shows the pressure amplitude is intensive at the transducer centre and its value increases with propagation distance from the transducer. The maximum of the pressure amplitude can be reached around the surface of liquid. It indicates that the sonochemical reaction fields become intensive at the vicinity of liquid surface. The distribution of liquid flow velocity indicates that the acoustic streaming stirs the reaction field to homogeneous in the reactor.
