　　Subsoil constraints are widespread in agroecosystems in the world,and their amelioration is costly and often practically infeasible.These constraints include compaction,sodicity,salinity,acidity,alkalinity and low fertility which limit crop production mainly by restricting root growth and hence water and nutrient uptake.
