Based on the recent trend toward environmentally friendly materials, a growing number of platform chemicals and polymer materials are derived from biomass.Among them, 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) is promising owing to its rich chemistry and potential availability from woody biomass.HMF is converted easily into various compounds including monomers for valuable polymer designs.
