Aim.To analyze the concept of isolation as experienced by Chinese women with HIV/AIDS.Background.In collectivist societies, persons are valued as participants in and contributors to their family and community.Isolation in the context of a collectivist society may be experienced differently than by persons who live in societies that value individualism.isolation may contribute to negative health and quality of life outcomes.Method.English databases, Medline and CINAHL were searched for publications between 2000 and 2009 using the terms: Chinese, women, isolation, and HIV/AIDS.
