Traumatic spinal cord injury (SCI) follows a two-phase pathological progression, starting with primary mechanical damage followed by secondary biochemical injury that expands the lesion over time.Following the first week post-injury, conditions become favorable for intraspinal Schwann cell transplantation, a therapy currently advancing toward clinical trials.
