Replication protein A(RPA)is a conserved heterotrimeric protein complex,comprising RPA1,RPA2,and RPA3 subunits,and is involved in multiple DNA metabolism pathways due to its single-stranded DNA-binding property.Arabidopsis and rice have multiple genes for most RPA subunits.Our previous investigation revealed that OsRPA1a plays an essential role in DNA repair but may not participate in,or at least is dispensable for,DNA replication and homologous recombination in rice.
