  The first part of the talk presents fluorinated ethylene propylene(FEP)membranes modified with polydopamine(PDA)microspots array as the substrate for protein microarray fabrication and analysis.By using a simple microfluidic setup,FEP membrane could be modified with PDA microspots,which allowed protein immobilization on the FEP surface.We applied the substrate for protein and peptide microarray-based analysis,and demonstrated the ultralow background signal of the substrate.In the second part,I will describe a centrifugation-based method of quantifying the adhesion strength of PDA film to FEP.The PDA film is thin and light,and the centrifugal force from the film mass cannot dislodge the film even with the most powerful centrifuge.To solve this problem,we synthesized hydrogel particles on top of the PDA film.The hydrogel particle was bound to PDA through covalent bonds.The centrifugal force was therefore substantially increased,and the PDA film could be dislodged from the substrate together with hydrogel particles in a tabletop centrifuge.By using this method,we measured the adhesion strength of PDA to FEP.This method is simple and can be extended to other coatings and substrates.
