  Purpose To investigate the mouse retinal structure during postnatal development with some antibodies specific for glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP),Vimentin which were considered as glial cells specific biomarkers,and Neurofilament triplet,an intermediate filament protein in neurons.Methods The location of the expression of these proteins was studied in different stage mice (from Postnatal day 0 to Adults) by means of immunofluorescence double-labeled in retina cryosections and wholemounts.Results GFAP was mainly expressed in astrocytes located in inner limited membrane of mouse retina and Neurofilament was expressed in retina ganglion cells axon and in part of retina ganglion cells bodies from postnatal day 0 (P0) to adult mouse.Besides the above results,we have also found that GFAP and Neurofilament were co-expressed in some cells body and their processes located in prospective outer plexiform layer (OPL) of mouse retina from P0 to P3 and co-located in OPL from P5 to adult.Vimentin was expressed in M(")1ller cells processes,especially in their endfoot in adult mouse retina.Similar results were observed in P8 and P13 mouse retina.But GFAP and Vimentin were fasciatedly co-located in part of Muller cells processes in adult mouse retina.
