Several types of capillary array electrophoresis with laser-induced fluorescence detector (LIF-D) have been proposed since the development of high-speed DNA analysis. They included systems with four-color planar confocal fluorescence detection [1], multiple sheath flow [2], line focus illumination [3], and fiber optic array illumination [4] and so on.In this report, a 12-channel laser-induced fluorescence detector (LIF-D) for capillary array electrophoresis was constructed and evaluated. The excitation light emitted by a diode double-pumped solid-state laser was directed to 1-12 fiber-optic splitters, and then delivered to each of the 12 capillaries.
